The Kentucky Wildcats finally have a win. It came in the third week of SEC play as the Cats suffocated the Mississippi St. Bulldogs en route to a 24-2 win.
In Mike Leach’s return to Lexington, his offense couldn’t get anything going against Kentucky’s defense, which had easily one of its best performances in the Mark Stoops era. Mississippi State didn’t score a single point while being held to just 295 total yards. The Cats grabbed six interceptions, their most grabbing seven against Florida in 1993. That included a pick-six in the final minutes to put this one away.
This was also the first time in Leach’s career that his offense failed to score a single point.
Up next, the Cats head to Knoxville to take on the Tennessee Volunteers at noon next Saturday.
