Saturday Quickies: Beat Mississippi State Edition

The Kentucky Wildcats have a tall task ahead of them if they want to avoid going 0-3.

NCAA Football: Arkansas at Mississippi State Matt Bush-USA TODAY Sports

The Mississippi State Bulldogs were the toast of college football after walking into Death Valley and defeating the LSU Tigers 44-34. It was a stunner of epic proportions but then Mike Leach did what Mike Leach always does: he lost the follow up game to a lesser team.

The Arkansas Razorbacks, a recent doormat of the SEC, brought MSU back down the earth by winning 21-14 in Starkville. It’s true that Kylin Hill left the game early and never returned but still, they should not have lost to the Hogs.

And now Mike Leach is bringing the Air Raid to Lexington to face off against a Kentucky Wildcats team that is a disappointing 0-2.

Both teams will be desperate for a win as neither of them have faced their toughest opponents yet. Another loss to either team would mean that the season is essentially lost.

Looking sharp in the all blue.

Let’s see if it happens.

Quickies

SEC bold predictions | Saturdays Down South- Not a very bold prediction in regards to Kentucky and Mississippi State.

What makes Kylin Hill such a weapon? | For Whom the Cowbell Tolls- It is unclear whether Kylin Hill will play or not but if he does then it’s bad news for Kentucky. He could be in the NFL right now.

College football picks | CBS- Get primed for an awesome college football Saturday.

Kentucky vs. MSU in crucial match up | UK Athletics- The media has been crushing Kentucky this week (and rightfully so). Now it’s time to put up or shut up.

Louisville crushed by GA Tech 46-27 | WDRB- The Louisville Cardinals have gone completely off the rails in season two of the Scott Satterfield experience after getting destroyed by a bad Georgia Tech team.

This sums up my feelings:

UK Women’s soccer hosts UGA | UK Athletics- Number 8 Georgia. Noon. Tomorrow. The Bell.

Anthony Davis re aggravated injury | CBS- The Miami Heat were on the brink last night but the LA Lakers did not win the title. Jimmy Butler went off again and now there will be a game six. More bad news for the Lakers: it is unclear whether or not Anthony Davis will be ready to go.

Tyler Herro breaks 44 year old record | Cats Pause- Herro has scored double figures in 20 straight playoff games, a record held for 44 years by the Suns’ Alvan Adams. There’s no doubt that he is going to be very good for a very long time.

How much longer can Wichita State tolerate Gregg Marshall? | SI.com- I’m surprised he’s still employed. And to think he was thought to be in line for John Calipari’s job at one point.

The Kentucky Fish and Wildlife UK Postgame Show has been a huge success in the first two games of the season. For any of you that are listeners, I appreciate your interest. We are back at it again tonight as soon as the game goes final in Lexington.

Here’s how to listen:

Buckle up because the show won’t go on until late and people are going to be good and liquored up. Check us out on the iHeart Radio App as well.
