Saturday Quickies: Beat Missouri Edition

The Kentucky Wildcats open up conference play with a showdown versus Missouri.

NCAA Basketball: Louisville at Kentucky Mark Zerof-USA TODAY Sports

Top ‘o the mornin’ to all of you in Big Blue Nation!

It’s seems like forever ago since the Kentucky Wildcats won their epic overtime game against the Louisville Cardinals. After a week of basking in that win, the Cats are ready to get back on the court.

While the fans were being chesty online and at work, the team has been going through Camp Cal. John Calipari had plenty to build on after the victory. He now has tape to show players at their best along with tape to show them at their worst.

In years past the Cats have stumbled into SEC play after getting a big win over the Cards. Last season, for example, the Cats went to Alabama and lost to an NIT team the week following the win at the Yum! Center.

The Missouri Tigers roll into Rupp Arena with an 8-4 record. It’s not an impressive record with their only “big” wins being against Temple and Illinois. Cuonzo Martin usually has a physical team and there have been times when the Cats struggled against that physicality. But Kentucky has faced a physical team in Ohio State, so this shouldn’t be much of a challenge.

Tweets of the Day

This was big news yesterday as one of Kentucky’s best lineman will be back for his senior season.

And another one...

Anthony Davis had a monster night to go with his monster dunks. He had 46 points and 13 rebounds in the win over his former team.

If he’s not a top five player in the class of 2020 then the players ahead of him must be all timers. Goodness.
