Rhyne Howard out several weeks due to injury

A tough blow for UK, but Howard won’t be out too long.

UK Athletics

Kentucky Wildcats Hoops star Rhyne Howard will be out of action for a few weeks for Matthew Mitchell’s squad and is out for tonight’s game against the Missouri Tigers.

Howard has a fractured finger and is scheduled to be out until the middle of February. Howard originally got hurt in the previous game at home against Auburn.

It is unfortunate for the women’s team as they are currently fourth place in the SEC East standings with two big games against both 25th ranked Arkansas and 9th ranked Mississippi State coming up. The Mississippi State game falls in the timetable that she is slated to return.

Howard currently leads the SEC in scoring at 23.2 points per game and is seen as one of the front-runners to be National Player of the Year. She almost certainly might have SEC Player of the Year locked up already, but missing some time might hurt her in that regard.
