Could UK freshman Dontaie Allen actually play this season?
To this point, it’s seemed as though Allen would be taking a redshirt after missing the first half of the season while recovering from a torn ACL and broken collarbone. Though it’s been over a year since Allen tore the ACL, swelling in that surgically-repaired knee has made it very hard for him to fully practice and practice on consecutive days.
Allen also hasn’t been taking part in pregame warm-ups, which seemed like another sign he wouldn’t be playing this season.
Well, that changed Wednesday night, as Allen was able to do some pregame shooting prior to the Wildcats’ matchup with the Vanderbilt Commodores.

Perhaps there is still a chance Allen plays this season, which has been his goal all along anyhow. He never wanted a redshirt, and he was vocal about that during his recovery over the summer, so perhaps there’s still a chance we’ll see him on the court this season. UK could certainly use the added depth.
