Nick Richards was a monster, carrying the Kentucky Wildcats to an overtime win against Texas Tech on Saturday. He had 25 points, 14 rebounds, and 4 blocks in an absolutely dominant performance. He was efficient on offense and completely changed the game on defense. So basically, it was another day at the office.
Nick Richards has not appeared any any major mock drafts, and it was honestly starting to be awkward that he was going unnoticed. But it seems that all that may be changing, as Adam Zagoria reports that NBA scouts have been very impressed.
“He’s starting to wow people, great game tonight,” one NBA scout told Zagoria.
Not only are they noticing his solid play, but also his potential. They do not make many 7-footers anymore, especially ones that can move like Richards.
“Loaded with talent, getting better all the time,” another scout told Zagoria.
Now, he will not be going from out of the draft straight into the lottery. He still has some work to do, but there is a lot of opportunity in front of him to improve his status.
Big Blue Nation is thrilled with the play of the Jamaican native, and you know the coaching staff that has been working with him has to be thrilled. But it is somewhat gratifying to see those at the next level take notice. There is little chance we will see Senior Nick Richards, but I think we can all agree that it’s worth it.
