Kentucky Football chosen as a team who could make noise in 2020

It’s about time the Cats started getting some love in the offseason.

It’s only January and people are genuinely excited about the return of Kentucky Football.

Mark Stoops and his staff have taken the program to an unprecedented level of success, and the buzz around UK football continues to grow, even outside of the Bluegrass.

There have been some laughable early preseason college football polls released over the past few weeks. Many of them giving little to no mention of Kentucky’s chances to make some noise in the SEC East.

But finally, the Cats are getting some love from the national media.

Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports wrote an article detailing five teams that he believes will have a chance to break into the top 25 and make their mark on the 2020 season.

Dodd’s reasoning was consistent with most UK fans already know but it provided an opportunity for other college football fans to get a glimpse of what’s in store at Kentucky this fall. There will be some experienced talent returning to Lexington next season, including firepower on the offensive side of the ball.

Terry Wilson and AJ Rose both will have the opportunity to make their mark in 2020. It will also be interesting to see if Stoops redshirts the bulk of the freshman talent like he did in 2019. The return of those players and the talent coming in you have to imagine that Stoops isn’t going to allow his team to take a step backwards.

Even after two stellar seasons, it seems that Kentucky still has some work to do if they are going to garner national respect in the off-season. With Georgia and Florida both expected to be beatable next season you can make the argument that UK could find themselves in a position to win the East and get to Atlanta for the SEC title game.
