After laying an egg in Columbia against the South Carolina Gamecocks, the Kentucky Wildcats seem to have gotten their groove back. They won back-to-back conference games at Arkansas and last night in Rupp Arena against the visiting Georgia Bulldogs.
Ashton Hagans did it all as the Cats won comfortably 89-79. The UK point guard filled up the stat sheet with 23 points, nine assists, three steals, and only three turnovers. He continues his quest to become the all-time single season assist leader. Tyler Ulis currently holds that honor but he had 108 assists at this point of his record breaking sophomore season. Hagans has 131.
Here is what Terry Brown and I discussed:
- Ashton Hagans was fantastic
- There isn’t anyone like Nick Richards in college basketball
- Keion Brooks and Johnny Juzang are making the most of their minutes
- Kahlil Whitney and Nate Sestina are not
- John Calipari said this is now Ashton’s and Immanuel Quickley’s team
- Tyrese Maxey got a little too chummy with Anthony Edwards so Cal put Quickley on the UGA guard
- EJ Montgomery did exactly what he needs to do every game
- We discussed the KU/K-State brawl
- And more!
