The game was over. Kansas had won.
But, with any in-state rivalry against Kansas State, tempers were high, and Kansas responded. The Jayhawks may have won by 21 points, but they truly lost when the penalties come down as the three-loss team may be without several key contributors for the immediate future.
Here’s a clip of the fight, an absolutely devastating few moments for both teams.

There was, as the announcer said, “no point to it.” It was a sad reality of the game, a sport in which the players care about their teammates and reputation so much.
At the end of the day, it’s just something that either side cannot let happen, especially the third-ranked team that is looking to continue to their quest for a top-spot in March. This brawl will bring down severe penalties.
With the Big 12-SEC challenge coming up, we sadly won’t see a UK-KU matchup.
Tennessee, one of the opponent’s Kentucky will face twice, will face what should be a short-handed Jayhawks team this coming Saturday. The currently 11-6 Volunteers need to beat Kansas to keep their March Madness hopes alive.
The Wildcats will take on Texas Tech, a top-25 opponent.
