Last weekend, the top power forward in the 2020 class took his official visit to Kentucky and was in attendance for the game against Alabama.
Greg Brown is ranked as the #8 overall player in the class. He talked about his visit to Kentucky in his newest blog for Sports Illustrated and it sounds like the visit went very well.
“I’m just coming off my visit to Kentucky last weekend and it was a great visit. I loved the environment, the coaches, the players really, genuinely wanted me to come there.
“The fans were chanting, ‘We want Greg!’ at the game and that was crazy because they’re so loud there. Everyone was telling me that Kentucky had a wild fan base, but they exceeded what I was expecting.”
Going into the visit, it looked like Kentucky wasn’t in the top 3 for Brown after comments from his dad.
However, it sounds like Kentucky has made up a lot of ground after such a successful visit.
Brown is down to Kentucky, Texas, Auburn, Memphis and Michigan with the Tigers and Longhorns viewed as the favorites right now. A final decision isn’t expected until the spring after Brown’s high school season is finished.
“I’m still planning to decide in the spring. I’m not rushing anything right now because I’m focusing more on my high school season, which is going great.”
Brown is currently averaging 28 points, 13 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals a game in his senior season and says he feels like he has really improved on his “shooting, passing, IQ and ball handling.”
This would be a huge get for Kentucky in 2020 as they are expected to be short on bigs after this season ends. Hopefully, Brown will be someone to come and fill the much-needed spot.
