The University of Kentucky men’s basketball team suffered an embarrassing loss on Wednesday evening at the hands of un-ranked South Carolina. However, the lady Wildcats managed to pull off a blowout victory over 12th-ranked Texas A&M on Thursday night in high fashion.
Kentucky won 76-54, quite literally separating themselves from Texas A&M via a second quarter run of that was built on the Wildcats outscoring the Aggies 20-9 during the period.
Star guard Rhyne Howard scored 24 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, dished out four assists and blocked two shots in the win. Highly complimenting Howard’s effort was Blair Green, who tied her career high of 13 points on 5-8 shooting.
Kentucky is poised to sky rocket in next week’s rankings, as Thursday’s victory was no small test. Considering ‘twas done in blowout fashion, the Wildcats should at least be a top-10 team come next week.
