John Calipari led his Kentucky Wildcats to their third consecutive SEC win on Saturday. Despite his team’s improvement and their upcoming conference schedule, Calipari is back on the road recruiting on Sunday.
According to Adam Zagoria, Calipari plans to go and watch 2021 big man Franck Kepnang on Sunday. Kepnang is the No. 18 overall recruit and No. 3 center in the 2021 class in the 247 Sports composite rankings, and it is obvious that Calipari is interested.
Zagoria lists Kentucky among the offers for Kepnang, although A Sea of Blue has been unable to confirm an offer. Rivals and 247 Sports do not list Kentucky as having offered. The Cameroon native does hold offers from Washington, UCLA, Vanderbilt, and Syracuse.
The Wildcats have Isaiah Jackson and Lance Ware coming in the 2020 class, and you have to think both EJ Montgomery and Nick Richards will be gone by 2021. Of course, Calipari could also add another piece like Greg Brown, who seemed to have a blast at Rupp Arena on Saturday. But he’s a one and done, so even if Brown picked the Cats, there will likely be a big hole to fill in Kentucky’s frontcourt for the 2021-22 season.
Kepnang appears to be an elite defender who continues to develop his offensive game. At 6-10, he is very agile for a big man and seems to have lots of upside. Will he secure an offer from Calipari today?
