Good morning BBN, and Happy New Year! Goodbye to 2019 and hello to 2020!
As the new year begins, looking back at 2019, it was a great year for Kentucky Athletics.
The Kentucky Football team book-ended the year with victories, opening the year with a New Year’s Day victory over Penn State in the Citrus Bowl and finishing 2019 with a thrilling win in the Belk Bowl over Virginia Tech. In between, Mark Stoops watched several of his players go on to the NFL, and then was still able to overcome two major injuries to key starters to produce a team that went 8-5 with another bowl game victory. What a year for Stoops and Co.
On the basketball end, the Kentucky Wildcats made a run to the Elite Eight and had a team that could’ve very well contended for a national title. The 2019-2020 squad could end up being a contender also. We’ll have to wait and see on that.
Across the board, when you look at women’s basketball, volleyball, cheerleading, baseball, softball, soccer, etc. 2019 was a banner year for UK Athletics. Here’s to a successful 2019 and hopefully even more successful 2020!
