The Kentucky Wildcats are off to a shaky start in the SEC as they’ve gone 0-2 in their opening conference games.

They are 2-2 as they roll into Columbia to face the South Carolina Gamecocks, a team that is currently 1-3. Both teams are in desperate need of a win tonight and I expect both squads to pull out all of the stops.

Both the Cocks and the Cats are playing with second string QBs as Jake Bentley and Terry Wilson are both out for the season. Sawyer Smith has a banged up shoulder and one wrong hit could put Walker Wood behind center.

Hopefully it doesn’t come to that. Hopefully the offense can find an identity. Hopefully the coaching staff can put the defense in a position to win. And hopefully they leave South Carolina 3-2 and not 2-3.

Tweets of the Day

Oooooooo weeeeeee.

I’m sure the NCAA just LOVES this. And Snoop Dogg loses 1 billion cool points.

Wait and see mode for Demarcus Cousins.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Looks like it took only one season for Chris Mack and his flunkies to get back to the brash talking losers we all knew and loved in the Pitino era. Bring it.

Quickies

SEC desperation rankings | Saturdays Down South- The Gamecocks are one on this list and the Cats come in at number three.

Kentucky football really needs some good news. They’ve lost 2 very winnable games in a row and took a week of bad press just because Kash Daniel might have tried to rip off a Florida quarterback’s ankle. Now they face another easily winnable game against South Carolina. If Kentucky doesn’t win this one, … well, basketball starts soon.

John Calipari is being honest with recruits | Cats Pause- Cal has all of a sudden gotten hot on the recruiting trail but he hasn’t changed a thing about how he does it. The message is the same as it’s always been. What has changed? The NCAA is cracking down on cheaters. This isn’t a coincidence.

Surprise stat favors Cats | Lexington Herald Leader- UK has a very good chance to beat USC but they have to cut down on mistakes.

UK volleyball opens SEC with a win | UK Athletics- Alli Stumler had a career high 20 kills as the Cats defeat the Bulldogs of MSU 3-1.

UK leads for Devin Askew | Cats Pause- Things have really ramped up for Kentucky and the 2021 point guard in the last few weeks. If he does come to Kentucky, will he change his tune about reclassifying to 2020? I think there’s a more than better chance that happens.

Week 5 bold predictions | Saturdays Down South- This prediction does not bode well for the WIldcats.

Brandin Echols doing his part for the UK defense | Vaughts Views- While the UK defense has struggled, JUCO transfer Brandin Echols has been quietly good.

Week 5 SEC picks | CBS- They picked Kentucky to cover the spread last week and it was a loss. Yet they’re still rolling with the Cats this week at South Carolina.

Lebron wants to play through AD | ESPN- It’s going to be a fun year for Lakers fans if Lebron James buys into letting Anthony Davis be the focus of the team. While Lebron is still Lebron, one has to wonder when age will catch up to him. James at the point and AD as the focus will be extremely difficult to defend.

VA Tech suffers worst loss in 45 years | CBS- Hokies football is a long way from the Michael Vick glory days. How long? They were blown out last night by Duke 45-10. Ouch.
