John Calipari doesn’t sleep, especially when recruiting periods are ongoing.
Today he is out watching AJ Griffin, along with Villanova’s Jay Wright, according to Paul Biancardi. Adam Zagoria adds that Griffin is hoping to schedule a visit to UK.
Griffin is a 6-7 forward from New York is a ranked as the 8th overall prospect in the country and the 3rd-ranked small forward, according to 247 Sports composite.
Griffin has yet to receive an offer from the Kentucky Wildcats, but does hold offers from the Duke Blue Devils, Auburn Tigers, UCLA Bruins and Michigan Wolverines among others, but one would think with Cali visiting Griffin, a scholarship could be on the horizon.
Griffin is currently seen as a Duke lean, but of course, that’s before he gets a potential UK offer. If/when that comes, then the Cats may move closer to the top of his list.
UK assistant Tony Barbee did watch him play on September 16th, so there’s been plenty of interest on UK’s end since the fall recruiting period opened.
Currently, there’s no timetable for the high school junior’s commitment, but it sounds like he’ll be taking visits very soon.
