Kentucky visiting Cliff Omoruyi

Kentucky really needs depth in the frontcourt next year.

John Calipari and his staff are putting together quite the back court roster for 2020.

With BJ Boston, Terrence Clarke, and Cam’Ron Fletcher on board, and others seemingly on the way, it may end up being one of Calipari’s best classes yet.

However, it is vital to get some depth in the frontcourt along with Lance Ware and a potentially (but not likely) returning EJ Montgomery or Nick Richards.

One major target left on the board is 4 star center Cliff Omoruyi, and according to Andrew Slater Kentucky will be visiting him on Tuesday.

As the No. 8 center in the class, Omoruyi has tremendous upside and could blossom into a dominant paint presence at the college level. He is a top 50 player that has had a hot and cold relationship with Kentucky over the last year. Currently, it seems to be a serious recruitment with solid interest coming from both sides.

Kentucky would be well-served taking a chance on him. It is highly doubtful that both Richards and Montgomery will be back next season, and there is a good chance they will both be gone. The big guy cupboard would be completely bare at that point.

Lance Ware was a solid pick-up last week, and he will make an immediate impact. And for the third year in a row, I believe John Calipari will look to add frontcourt depth via the graduate transfer route. But even if he does, there will have to be another player or two added to the roster. Omoruyi is one of Kentucky’s top targets to fill that void.
