Greg Brown is now firmly on Kentucky’s recruiting radar for 2020.
The five-star forward out of Texas announced his top five on Tuesday, and to the surprise of many, Kentucky was included, despite showing virtually no public interest in the 6-9, 195-pound big man. Kentucky actually failed to make Brown’s top 10 back in February.
But not everything gets publicized when it comes to recruiting, and it turns out Brown has a scholarship offer from Kentucky, according to Rivals reporter David Sisk.
I just spoke with Greg Brown III’s father and he confirmed to me that his son does indeed have a Kentucky offer. He said it occurred in July and they have kept it quiet. I will have the full interview up on @KentuckyRivals this evening. @RowlandRIVALS

247 Sports analyst Andrew Slater says the offer has come since the Peach Jam, which ended in mid July.
Since his performance at Peach Jam, Kentucky offered and Coach Calipari made a big enough push to crack Greg’s Top 5 #BBN

All 4 others, but particularly Texas & Memphis have done a great job as well #HedgehogFam https://t.co/rj9e4gyrVQ
It’s odd that there’s been no public mention of Brown holding an offer from the Wildcats until now, but all that matters is they’re still in the mix for this top-10 recruit.
However, it will prove quite challenging to pull Brown out of Texas, as the hometown Longhorns are viewed as the favorites in this recruitment. They have all of the predictions thus far at 247 Sports and Rivals. Brown’s dad played football for the Longhorns. His mother also attended the university.
Saying this, John Calipari has had some major recruiting wins in the Lone Star State during his time in Lexington. Among the Texans who’ve committed to Kentucky during that time include Julius Randle, De’Aaron Fox, the Harrison Twins, Jarred Vanderbilt, PJ Washington and Tyrese Maxey.
Here are some recent highlights of Brown in action:
