It was about this time last year when UK announced that Joshua Paschal had been diagnosed with melanoma after having a skin lesion removed from his foot.

Now one year later, Paschal has undergone what hopes to be his final immunotherapy treatment.

“I’m excited to announce that today was my last immunotherapy treatment for melanoma!” Paschal wrote.

The redshirt sophomore is now focused on the upcoming season, and will be making the move from defensive end back to outside linebacker for the Kentucky Wildcats’ reloaded defense.

During a very promising freshman season at outside linebacker, Paschal recorded 17 tackles and 3.5 sacks, while playing in all 13 games. Entering Year 2, some thought that Paschal would be one of UK’s top defensive players.

Unfortunately, Paschal’s melanoma led to him appearing in just two games last season. His emotional debut came on Senior Day in a win over Middle Tennessee.

Here’s to hoping that Psachal has beaten this terrible disease for good.
