Lonnie Johnson isn’t wasting time in making his mark in the NFL.
The former Kentucky Wildcats star was a second round pick of the Houston Texans in the 2019 NFL Draft. He’s now looking to win a starting spot for a Texans team that made the playoffs last year and hopes to contend for a Super Bowl this coming season.
But for now, Johnson is going through the grind of his first NFL training camp, and he’s apparently leaving quite the impression.
The Texans and Green Bay Packers are holding joint practices, and apparently, Johnson started a camp skirmish after he laid out tight end Jace Sternberger.
The #Packers and #Texans got into joint practice fight, but it got broken up pretty quickly.

It was rookie on rookie crime, Packers TE Jace Sternberger was hit hard by Texans CB Lonnie Johnson and then flexed over him.pic.twitter.com/iIXxfBzWzY

Perhaps Johnson was looking for a little revenge after Sternberger’s Texas A&M Aggies beat Johnson’s Wildcats in overtime during this past college football season.
Hopefully, Johnson learns his lesson and avoids making this mistake again. The big hit may have been ok, but the flexing will draw an unsportsmanlike taunting penalty if this were in a game.
