It’s Saturday and the Kentucky Wildcats are ready to take the field for the first time of the 2019 season.

The expectations are about as high as they’ve ever been and Mark Stoops has the program on the precipice of something special. But all of the conjecturing is about to be null and void as actual football is about to take place.

Talking season is over and it’s time for the players to walk the walk on the field. The Cats remain an 11.5 point favorite at home but the Rockets may prove to be a tougher foe than many fans have anticipated.

UK has struggled at times in the first game of the season. I don’t think this opener will be any difficult and there will be some frustrating moments. But in the end, I do believe the Cats come away victorious and they will cover the spread.

Quickies

Five things we need to see from UK in week one | Saturdays Down South- I think the first point is the most important. They can’t let the feelings from last season get them unfocused.

If you go to Kroger Field | WDRB- Enjoy the tailgating and the new food options at Kroger Field!

UK opens with first time foe | UK Athletics- The Cats are no stranger to playing MAC teams in the non-conference but this is the first time that they will face off against the Toledo Rockets.

SEC QB week 1 power rankings | Saturdays Down South- Terry Wilson actually ranks a little higher than I thought he would. Not many people are as confident in him as I am. I think we will see big things this season from Terry Touchdown.

Not unlike Guarantano, Wilson’s numbers were hit and miss (1,889 yards and 11 TDs, 547 rushing yards and 4 TDs on the ground). To his credit, he developed as the year went and was capable of delivering some big plays, including the untimed touchdown to beat Mizzou or the downfield dart he threw that helped overtake Florida. He has to be sharper in the mid-range passing game, but he could well be. If so, he’s a guy who could sneak up to the top half dozen pretty easily.

Best college football bets of the weekend | CBS- Notre Dame BIG over Louisville makes the list.

Terrence Clarke cuts list to six | 247- Not only did he cut his list, the versatile wing is reclassifying to the 2020 class and UK is the heavy favorite to land him. He would be a top five talent for the Cats. He will decide on September 14th.

UK volleyball sweeps Cal Poly | UK Athletics- The number seven Cats are off to a hot start.

Don’t forget to tune in to the UK Postgame Show. We will have Mark Stoops’ press conference as well a player sound and YOUR first chance to call and react to the game!
