Over the summer, UK tragically lost one of its all-time greats in former quarterback Jared Lorenzen.
Now that the new season is here, current signal-caller Terry Wilson has a plan to honor Lorenzen.
According to KSR, Wilson will wear a pair of custom-made cleats from sneaker artist Billy Hobbs of True Blue Customs. The cleats have ‘The Hefty Lefty’ painted on them, as well as a picture of Lorenzen:
After Lorenzen passed away this summer, Wilson expressed his desire to pay tribute to the UK legend. Initially, Wilson suggested he could wear the No. 22 jersey for Game 1 vs. the Toledo Rockets, but it appears he will go with these custom cleats instead.
Of course, the Oct. 12 game vs. the Arkansas Razorbacks is Jared Lorenzen Day, so we could see Wilson wearing the No. 22 on that day.
This is a beautiful tribute to one of the most special athletes in UK Athletics history, and it’s great to see Wilson is the one leading the charge on honoring Lorenzen.
