The fall winds are blowing around the Bluegrass as football is finally upon us.

We get a rare treat as the Florida Gators and Miami Hurricanes kick off the season one week before the rest of the college football world. Two old rivals will face off in a match up of conference champion hopefuls.

Despite a few bumps in the road last season, Dan Mullen has his Gators ranked eighth in the country as they return a multitude of starters that know what Mullens wants offensively and defensively. They are looking to establish themselves as one of the top teams in the East with the Georgia Bulldogs.

The Canes are in a much different situation as there will be new faces all over the field, including new head coach Manny Diaz and new QB Jarren Williams. We all remember Williams for spurning the Wildcats. Not once but twice.

Not gonna lie. I hope the Gators win by 50.

John Calipari golfs with President Obama | KSR- The Wildcats coach enjoyed four hours of golfing and discussion with the former president. Save the political outrage if you have any.

Sophomore Jordan Wright looking to add depth to Cats | Cats Pause- Wright backed up Josh Allen last season and will look to help out when Josh Paschal and Boogie Watson need a break. The depth at linebacker is impressive for the Cats.

Power ranking every QB UK will face this season | Saturday’s Down South- No surprise that Jake Fromm is at the top of the list. UofL’s “Puma” Pass is tenth.

Rupp renovations update | UK Athletics- The chair backs are on schedule while the clubs are delayed. Which is surprising since UK likes to cater to the rich folks first.

3 men shot at Willie Cauley-Stein’s former Sacramento home | Sacramento Bee- Luckily WCS no longer lives in Sacramento. He was leasing his former home so it’s doubtful there was any involvement from the former Cat.

Florida vs. Miami trends, betting lines, and prediction | Sporting News- The Gators are -7.5 and the over/under is set at 47. The Sporting News expect the Gators to cover. And then some.

Mississippi State football and basketball smacked with probation | ESPN- The Bulldogs were caught up in a tutoring scandal that’s going to cost them money and recruiting perks.

Dwight Howard returning to the Lakers for a second stint | CBS- Since it worked out so well the first time, the Lakers have turned to Dwight Howard to replace Demarcus Cousins. Cousins suffered a torn ACL and his future in the NBA is very much in doubt.

Team USA loses in stunner to Australia | ESPN- De’Aaron Fox was the best player on the team and he opted to drop out of Team USA to concentrate on getting things going for the Kings. The result is a mishmash of players without any star power. They lost for the first time in 78 games.

Former NFL lineman and wife murdered | USA Today- Tragedy has struck the NFL as one of their own was killed and the son of the deceased is the prime suspect.

The Mandalorian trailer has dropped | Gizmodo- I have been less than impressed that what Disney has had to offer in regards to their addition to the Star Wars Universe but damn this looks good.

Tune in to ESPN 680 from 12:00 PM-2:00 PM as I preview the Kentucky Wildcats football season along with Jason Ence and Drew Brown. We will also be joined by former Cat Justin Jefferies by phone in the second hour.

If you don’t live in the Louisville or Frankfort areas and still want to listen, you can stream the show on the iHeart Radio app, straight from the website here .
