With each successful season, more individual accolades come to members of the Kentucky Wildcats football team. For the 2020 season, five seniors are potentially headed to the Reese’s Senior Bowl as they were named to the preseason watch list on Wednesday.
Last season, Wildcats Lonnie Johnson, Mike Edwards, and Darius West participated in the game. Josh Allen was selected, but ultimately chose not to participate. This year, there are Kentucky players on both sides of the ball being recognized before the season as potential participants.
Linebacker Kash Daniel, safety Jordan Griffin, offensive guard Logan Stenberg, defensive end Calvin Taylor, Jr., and offensive tackle Mason Wolfe have been selected by the committee is players to watch for the season. Of course, players will come and go from the watch list throughout the season before 55 players are selected to play on the South roster. Darius West was not on the original watch list last season, but made an impact that the selection committee could not ignore.
The game itself will take place on January 25, 2020 at Ladd Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Alabama. The purpose of this exhibition all-star game is to showcase the best NFL prospects that have no more college eligibility.
Of course post season awards are fun, but all of these guys have a lot to prove this season before making the final cut to play in the Senior Bowl. The number of Kentucky players participating in the game will likely be directly related to the team success the Wildcats see this season.
Are there any off the radar seniors you think may be able to make a Senior Bowl roster?
