Michael Drennen II is one of the top players from Ohio in the 2020 class.
Although he has over 40 scholarship offers, his first one came from the Kentucky Wildcats during his freshman year. And going into his senior season, Vince Marrow has Kentucky trending to land the No. 6 all-purpose back in the country.
Drennen holds offers from the Ohio State Buckeyes, Florida State Seminoles, Stanford Cardinal, Alabama Crimson Tide, Georgia Bulldogs and LSU Tigers just to name a few of the top schools that are after him.
On Monday, however, Kentucky picked up four consecutive crystal ball predictions on 247 Sports for the 4-star runner.
“I love Kentucky and I’ve been there the most of any of the out of state schools. Those coaches are my guys and we talk all the time, especially (tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator Vince Marrow),” Drennen told CatsPause. “I will take an official visit there for sure.”
Drennen plans to take all five of his available official visits this fall. While he says that Kentucky is guaranteed to be one of them, it is unclear what other schools he wants to see. And while it seems like he is in no rush to make a decision, with so much momentum going toward Kentucky right now a commitment at the fall deadline is not out of the question.
The Wildcats currently have two commitments from running backs in 2020, Torrance Davis and Jutahn McClain. Drennen is rated much higher than either of those players, and given the committee-approach that most backfields employ, there is certainly room for another back on the team.
