The Kentucky Wildcats 2020 recruiting class began to take shape this summer with the commitments of five-star shooting guard BJ Boston and four-star forward Cam’Ron Fletcher.
With both Boston and Fletcher set to join Kentucky next season, John Calipari and his staff are awaiting decisions from several other prospects.
One prospect they will have to continue waiting on is five-star point guard Daishen Nix, who has announced Kentucky is among the final five schools he is still considering. Also making were the Alabama Crimson Tide, UCLA Bruins, Kansas Jayhawks and Maryland Terrapins.
Picking my top 5 wasn’t easy . There are some good schools , with great coaching staffs that are being left off this list , Washington , Marquette , and Arizona , just to name a few . pic.twitter.com/yr8uM9dVVf— daishen (@djfromveg) August 20, 2019
In addition, Jake Weingarten says that Nix is very likely to take an official visit to Kentucky.
UCLA, Maryland, Kansas, Alabama, and.... Kentucky, make the final five schools for Daishen Nix. Expect an official visit coming for Kentucky, which i’ve been told, is extremely likely.— Jake (@jakeweingarten) August 20, 2019
Nix is rated by 247 Sports as the top point guard in the nation for 2020. Originally from Alaska, Nix is now playing his high school basketball in Las Vegas. The Kentucky staff has been in on Nix for a while as at last month’s Peach Jam Nix discussed Kentucky as an option and about planning a visit to Lexington.
Kentucky had been seen as the favorite for a while, but a report from KSR’s Jack Pilgrim raised some eyebrows as the report stated Nix wanted to speed up his recruiting process and make a decision sooner than later despite not having been on a visit to Kentucky yet.
If the Cats can land Nix they will have found a much-needed floor general for the 2020 season and perhaps beyond as Ashton Hagans is likely a lock to enter next year’s NBA Draft.
