Isaiah Todd’s recruitment is now “a total guessing game”

UK was once viewed as a significant favorite, but Todd’s recruitment has gotten much murkier

Isaiah Todd is a top-10 ranked prospect in the 2020 class. The 6-foot-9 power forward was, at one point, a top reclassification prospect, but has since decided to remain in his class and finish out his senior year of high school.

It was looking to be a two horse race for Todd’s services when he was mulling the reclassification. The Kentucky Wildcats and the North Carolina Tarheels were set to be the front runners. However, with his decision to stay in the 2020 class, his recruitment is seemingly a little more open.

Todd recently announced his top 5 list. In addition to UK and UNC, the Kansas Jayhawks, Memphis Tigers, and Michigan Wolverines made the list. A decision seems likely to come towards the end of the high school season and, according to Rivals.com’s Corey Evans, where Todd will play college ball is a “guessing game”.

For his recruitment, it is a total guessing game. He released his final five last week which consists of Kansas, Kentucky, Memphis, Michigan, and North Carolina. A year ago, there was a chance that he could reclassify into the 2019 class with UK and UNC as his top landing spots. Now, Todd is in no rush to come to a college decision and while he will likely visit all five of his finalists, none have been scheduled, which could equate to a spring signing.

Todd will be a hot commodity in this recruiting cycle as he has the ability to play on the perimeter or inside. He can create his own offense and has demonstrated a soft touch. One can only assume that he will continue to develop his skills in his last year of high school and whoever lands Todd will be getting a special player. I for one hope we see him in Kentucky blue.
