Despite a 10-win season in 2018, it seems nearly no one believes the Kentucky Wildcats can come close to duplicating that success in 2019.
In fairness, the Wildcats have lost a lot of talent with Josh Allen, Benny Snell Jr., Mike Edwards, Lonnie Johnson Jr., and several other key contributors gone. However, Mark Stoops and company have much-improved recruiting classes than in previous years and after last year has the whole team embracing the underdog mentality.
As if there wasn’t enough bulletin board material, CBS Sports ranked every team in the FBS 1-130 and ranked Kentucky at #46.
Among notable teams ranked higher than Kentucky include a Fresno State (44) team from a weak Mountain West conference, the Memphis Tigers (38) who finished 8-6 last season, and Mississippi State (32) who lost as much talent as anyone in the nation and still lost to Kentucky previous season 28-7, despite having three 2019 NFL Draft first-round selections on their active roster.
The disrespect is real for Kentucky, and they will look to prove everyone wrong again beginning on August 31st when they host the Toledo Rockets in their season opener.
Now here’s a look at where each SEC team ranks on the list.
6. LSU Tigers
14. Texas A&M Aggies
15. Auburn Tigers
28. Missouri Tigers
46. Kentucky Wildcats
