Now that 2020 recruiting is in full swing, Coach Cal and his staff are taking a look at some in-state talent for next year’s class.
6-8 power forward JJ Traynor from Bardstown has caught the eye of UK coaches, and they will reportedly be watching him this upcoming season, according to Travis Graf from Rivals.
Bardstown’s @JJTraynor20 tells me UK assistants have reached out to his AAU coach, telling them they’re going to keep an eye on him this season.

At this time, WKU and Cincinnati are the main schools in JJ’s recruitment.
Besides the Cincinnati Bearcats and Western Kentucky Hilltoppers, other teams also on his list include the Evansville Purple Aces, Northern Kentucky Norse and Akron Zips.
It is always good to have Kentucky kids on the roster when they are talented enough to help the success of the team, so perhaps Traynor could be the next in-state kid to wear the Kentucky uniform, though it’s still very early in his recruitment.
It will be interesting to follow this upcoming season to see if Traynor has an impressive season to eventually be someone the UK coaches want to bring in for the 2020-21 season.
