Former Kentucky Wildcats star and current nine-year veteran Patrick Patterson will have a new NBA home very soon.
Once his $5.7 million salary clears waivers, Patterson’s intention is to sign with the Los Angeles Clippers, league sources tell ESPN https://t.co/0uIDF7EYJx— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) August 1, 2019
Patterson would join the Clippers after a two-year stint with the Thunder, playing a consistent role off their respective bench, though he has seen his minutes per game take a heavy dip over the last two years.
This past season, the former Wildcat averaged just 3.6 points and 2.3 rebounds per game after going for 3.9 ppg and 2.4 rpg the previous year, so he was undoubtedly unhappy with his role for a fringe playoff team.
Patterson probably won’t get a deal that pays him $5.7 million in Los Angeles, but he’ll get to play for a team that’s favored to win the 2020 NBA title.
