Believe it or not, football season is just around the corner.
Right now, rookie minicamps and OTA’s have wrapped up with many draftees and signed free agents working hard to stand out.
One good way to stand out is to make friends with the franchises first-round QB draft pick.
CJ Conrad got picked up by the giants after the draft, and it looks like he has already formed a bond with the 6th pick in the NFL Draft, QB Daniel Jones. They’re currently roommates at camp right now and they’ve been studying together in their down time.
“At rookie minicamp we were in our room going through the script every night,” Conrad told the New York Daily News. “When we get the script for the following practice, even now during OTAs and minicamp, I’ll go up to his room and we’ll go through it.
Getting handed an entirely new playbook to learn is no easy task, so it’s good to see these two working through it together.
“Daniel’s a really smart guy and I want to take full advantage of him because quarterbacks get told everything, so I lean on him for stuff and I’ll make some plays in doing so,” Conrad said with a smile. “So that’s kind of the relationship we’ve got. In general I think me and him feel comfortable out there.”
Having that off-field rapport is great as it helps develop the on-field rapport. If CJ can feed off of Jones’ ability, he’ll have a great chance to make the team.
Conrad is currently competing with two other TEs at camp right now to back up their starting TE Rhett Ellison, so he needs to take advantage of every opportunity he can get. Hopefully, we see this trend continue for Conrad!
