After securing a commitment from Brandon “BJ” Boston Jr. over the weekend, John Calipari is already off to a great start in the 2020 class.

Depending on how they play their cards and what certain players decide, this could be an incredible class for Kentucky. There are plenty of players with offers from the Wildcats already and many more are trending in that direction, including five-star point guard Daishen Nix.

At the recent USA Basketball Training Camp in Colorado, he spoke to Rivals about his recruitment as well as Kentucky’s increasing involvement and interest.

“I’ve been talking to Coach Joel Justus. He said that I just need to play 94 feet, show them I can do that, and work on my jumpshot,” said Nix, who added he thinks Kentucky is close to offering him a scholarship.

Nix says he plans to make a list in early August and use “probably like two or three” of his official visits. When asked if there were any places he definitely wanted to see, Nix said, “Kentucky, for sure.”

The possible return of current point guards Immanuel Quickley or Ashton Hagans for their junior seasons, as well as a priority on potential commitments from ball-dominant guards like Jalen Green or Joshua Christopher may steer Nix away from Lexington when it’s all said and done.

With an offer likely on the way and a lot left to be decided, though, his recruitment is very much open for everyone still involved with the incredibly gifted pass-first point guard.

Nix says he wants to wrap up his recruitment around the beginning of his school year. He is ranked 15th by 247Sports, 14th by Rivals, and 22nd by ESPN.
