Brandon Boston’s visit to Lexington must have left little to be desired, because he pledged his allegiance to the University of Kentucky on Saturday while on his official visit.
This is Kentucky’s first commit of the class of 2020, and it’s one heck of a way to get started.
This was actually Boston’s third time visiting UK. He was more recently at Rupp Arena in February for the Cats’ beatdown of Auburn, a school that was also vying for his services along with Duke, Florida and Oregon.
Clearly, Boston has seen all he needed to see and felt comfortable with Coach Calipari and his staff to commit early.
Adding an elite top-10 player like Boston is a great sign for Cal and UK as they look to lock down another top-three recruiting class.
Here is what Twitter is saying about the big commitment.
BREAKING: BJ Boston has committed to John Calipari and Kentucky, a source told @Stockrisers. @TiptonEdits on it as well.

Spoke with his father this past week, got everything out of the way and is now focused on getting better.

Stood with @KyleTucker_ATH in Atlanta during the EYBL earlier this year as we watched BJ Boston and Sharife Cooper do anything they wanted against their competition. Big time talent heading to Kentucky.

BJ Boston first visited Kentucky on Aug. 1, 2017. Nearly two years to the day later, he's a Wildcat.

BJ Boston is a big addition for Kentucky. One of the guys that Duke also really wanted. #BBN

First proper date in months with @jentuck21 and we picked the right place. @TheRealJeffRuby was the best meal I’ve ever eaten in Lexington. And FWIW, Kentucky’s staff looked mighty pleased as they exited with five-star Brandon Boston Jr. and his family. I’d bet on the Cats here.

Just now seeing five-star wing BJ Boston has committed to Kentucky. Kid is a great, three-level scorer and one of the truly elite players in the 2020 class. BIG-TIME pick-up for the Wildcats

I think Brandon Ingram is a fair comparison for BJ Boston

Kentucky is on the board in the 2020 recruiting class! Coach Cal just landed a commitment from lanky wing Brandon Boston Jr. He is a big-time three-level scorer with major two-way potential. Amazing building block for what will be another special class.

I view BJ BOSTON as a top 5 prospect. #Kentucky is finally getting an elite wing. Making the decision wings in the past haven’t made going to UK
