NCAA Football: SEC Media Day Vasha Hunt-USA TODAY Sports

Good morning, Big Blue Nation.

The UK sports news is becoming harder to come by as we limp along with the latter part of July. Sports topics, for now, are mostly limited to baseball with some NBA off season drama sprinkled in here and there.

But sweet relief is right around the corner as we are now less than one week away from the start of fall camp and the end of the “Talking Season”.

I’m as excited for a Kentucky Wildcats football season as I have ever been in my entire life. While I’m not convinced this team will either replicate or improve upon 10 wins, I still think they’re going to be good and the Cats will go bowling for a fourth straight season.

Fear not folks...it’s almost here.

Tweets of the Day

This is great.

Much better than the block or charge tweets.

Affirmative.

Quickies

Courtney Love named Director of Player Development | KSR- Mark Stoops didn’t waste any time filling the position recently vacated by Freddie Maggard. I think Love will do a fantastic job.

Bam Adebayo invited to USA training camp | Cats Pause- The former UK big man will have an opportunity to join the US World Cup team.

The SEC All Name Team | Saturdays Down South- Of course Kavosiey Smoke is on the list:

Does his name sound more like a French wine, or a barbecue restaurant? One of the players tasked to replace Benny Snell, Jr. Smoke is one of two SEC players to feature that name following Auburn’s Smoke Monday. Kentucky’s Smoke is one where you definitely need to reach for a crutch from the pronunciation guide. It’s kah-VAH-see-ay. For an added wrinkle to his bio, Smoke is also part Native American.

Red Sox slugger blasts three homers | ESPN- A Make-A-Wish kid requested a home run from Mookie Betts. He obliged with three of them in a 10-5 win over the Yankees.

Ezekial Elliott holdout watch | CBS- The Cowboys star running back is seeking a record deal with Dallas.

Alabama line backer is MIA | USA Today- Eyabi Anoma is a sophomore LB for the Tide and he was ready to make an impact. But a statement from the University said that he is no longer attending classes.
