Back in December of 2018, the NCAA announced it was making a big change to the recruiting calendar by creating basketball camps for the summer.
These camps are comprised of rising seniors, juniors and select sophomores competing at four locations in two sessions. These camps are being held on Division I campuses at the following locations:
- South Region: University of Houston
- Midwest Region: University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
- East Region: University of Connecticut (Storrs)
- West Region: Grand Canyon University (Phoenix)
The first session begins this week, and it looks like John Calipari is heading to the one at UConn’s campus:
On the way to UCONN for a recruiting event. Brings back memories of bringing my first UMass team here.

We were down 12-0 to start and I called TO. Still remember what I said. “Key to this game is to get the ball over half court!” They laughed and loosened up. ... We lost by 30!
Two three-day sessions will occur at each site location. The first session is July 23-25, and the second will be held July 26-28.
It’s unclear what recruits are taking part at these events, but you have to think someone of note if there if Cal is making his way up to Connecticut for this session.
You can read more about these camps at the NCAA’s official website.
