We’re still many months away from the start of the 2019-20 college basketball season, but oddsmakers are already hard at work setting their national championship favorites.
The most recent site to release their title odds was BetOnline, who lists the Kentucky Wildcats of having the second-best odds behind the Michigan State Spartans to cut down the nets next April.
Kentucky checks in with 8/1 odds which is just behind Michigan State at 7/1. The Spartans are widely considered title favorites due to 2019 Big Ten Player of the year Cassius Winston deciding to return to East Lansing for a senior season.
Among those listed right behind the Cats are blue bloods Duke and Kansas and the loaded Memphis Tigers who under Penny Hardaway hauled in the top recruiting class in the nation.
Other notable programs on the list are the defending champion Virginia Cavaliers and rival Louisville Cardinals. Virginia checks in with the fifth-highest odds at 11/1, while Louisville is tied with Maryland for the seventh-best odds.
Elsewhere in the SEC, the Florida Gators have 18/1 odds to win it all.
It’s way too early, but the oddsmakers are buying into Kentucky as they look to win their ninth national title this upcoming season.
