Another Kentucky offensive lineman has picked up a preseason honor.
Earlier this month, offensive guard Logan Stenberg was named a preseason All-American candidate.
Now, center Drake Jackson has been named to the 2019 fall watch list for the Rimington Trophy, presented annually to the most outstanding center in Division I football.
Jackson, a homegrown native of Versailles, started at center in all 13 games last season, giving him 20 consecutive starts. He was responsible for only one-half quarterback sack and he had 141 blocks at the point of attack, and had 33 knockdown blocks. He was a significant contributor to helping Benny Snell Jr. reach his third-consecutive 1,000-yard season, the first player in school history to accomplish that feat.
Kentucky’s offense will once again be relying heavily on Jackson and the offensive line to carry this offseason to another successful campaign that ends in the postseason for a fourth-straight year.
The winner of this award will be recognized at the Rimington Trophy Presentation at the Rococo Theatre in Lincoln (NE) on Saturday, January 18, 2020.
