Wenyen Gabriel is still fighting for his spot in the NBA.

Summer League play started up on Monday night, and Gabriel came ready. He had a stellar game and dominated on the offensive end and on the glass. He came away with an impressive 22 points and 12 boards in 27 minutes.

Gabriel lead all scorers and even managed to knock down two triples. Wenyen has come a long way since his last season at Kentucky. Most didn’t think he was ready for the NBA, but he had different plans.

Gabriel has been a part of the Kings franchise since the end of the 2018 NBA Draft, initially as a two-way player, and he even appeared in four games last year towards the end of the season. He’s still a very young (22) and athletic player that has promise on both sides of the ball.

It appears that he has put some serious work into his game over the past year and it looks like he is ready to earn his spot in the NBA with a young Sacramento team.

There are still a lot of games left to go in the summer league, so Wenyen better bring this type of energy every night if he wants to get his shot.

The Kings have announced that Gabriel will not suit up tonight after his great showing on Monday.
