Thursday Quickies: Josh Christopher Edition

Josh Christopher could be a huge part of the 2020 class

USA Basketball

Josh Christopher, generally viewed as a top ten talent in the 2020 class, received an offer from Kentucky yesterday.

The 6’5” guard out of California had talked extensively about growing up as a Kentucky fan during Peach Jam, and how excited he would be to receive an honor. Now that’s a reality, and Kentucky stands a pretty good shot of adding Christopher to their 2020 class.

He impressed over the weekend at Peach Jam, showing a high-level scoring ability but also the ability to rebound, distribute, and be a solid defender. He’s a guy that can be an all-around talent and has a lot of versatility, traits that John Calipari loves.

Christopher’s timeline is really unknown. He has mentioned diving into the process heavily after Peach Jam, which could mean an early commitment but he’s not sure when he will decide.

Landing Christopher early could be a major boost for Kentucky. He seems to be a guy that other guys like playing with, particularly Jalen Green, the top 5 guard that Kentucky has been heavily recruiting. He and Christopher have been long-time friends as have their parents.

It remains to be seen how Christopher’s recruitment handles Kentucky’s recruitment of BJ Boston, another shooting guard in the class. However, BBN should really like the idea of Christopher, Green, and Boston all in Kentucky blue.

For now though, it seems like Christopher’s recruitment should be one to watch and see how the dominoes fall from there.
