On Tuesday, 2020 four-star forward Cam’Ron Fletcher announced his final five teams: Kentucky, Michigan State, Missouri, North Carolina, and Alabama.
Less than 24 hours later, Evan Daniels of 247 Sports logged his official crystal ball prediction for the Wildcats.
Fletcher is ranked as the No. 36 overall player and the No. 8 small forward in the 2020 class, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. Many expect Fletcher to commit this fall. Considering that many top prospects will be waiting until the spring, it will be interesting to see if the top schools would accept a commitment that early from a 4-star player.
On one hand, you obviously like him enough to offer him a scholarship. On the other, you do not want to fill up your roster at certain positions and make the top prospects seem like less of a priority.
Daniels is seven for seven with his predictions on the 2020 class. While he is certainly not perfect, Daniels almost always waits until he is sure a player is headed for a certain school before logging his prediction.
Time will tell if Fletcher will truly choose Kentucky, and whether or not Kentucky will be ready to take his commitment this fall. He is only one of 10 players with outstanding scholarship offers for the 2020 season, but until Calipari has an idea of who might come back, it is impossible to know what space will be available on the roster.
