The 2020 recruiting class is now the focus for college coaches as most of the rosters are set for the 2019 season baring a potential reclassification.

One UK target, Joshua Christopher, who is 247 Sports’ No. 8 overall recruit for 2020, is one of the most explosive recruits in his class, and he’s caught the eye of many big-time schools.

Christopher is participating in Peach Jam, and Kentucky has three coaches there watching him, including John Calipari and two other assistants.

Adam Zagoria for Zagsblog.com caught up with Christopher to discuss his recruitment.

Christopher broke down several of his options for college, including the Arizona State Sun Devils, Arizona Wildcats, UCLA Bruins, Michigan Wolverines, and Kentucky Wildcats.

On Kentucky Christopher had positive things to say, but did note that he has not yet received an offer from the Cats.

“Kentucky has reached out a whole lot lately. They haven’t offered me yet. I mean, shoot it’s Kentucky, it’s Calipari, so I think any player that’s in high school appreciates what Calipari brings to the table, so of course myself being a kid who’s always watched Kentucky and watched the guys like Anthony Davis and John Wall, of course you appreciate that and take it into consideration.”

Christopher went on to talk about how he appreciates the love that the Kentucky coaches are showing him and noted he used to go around in Kentucky gear growing up.

“I appreciate Calipari and company, coach [Kenny] Payne and coach [Joel] Justus. I appreciate the love they’re showing right now. I’ve worn Kentucky hoodies and stuff like that since I was in elementary school and early middle school so [with my] recruitment I have to calm down with the college clothing I put on. But I’m a fan of Kentucky so we’ll see what happens with my decision for college.”

As far as a decision date goes, Christopher has no idea when that will be.

Getting Christopher would be a major get for Kentucky, as his play style is the type the coach Cal has had the most success with. But until an offer comes, it’s hard to gauge how much of a chance the Cats really have with this top-10 recruit.
