The Kentucky Football season is less than two months away.

On August 31st, the Cats will look to begin a season they hope to be a successful encore of their historic ten-win season of 2018.

Their first opponent will be the Toledo Rockets of the Mid-American Conference (MAC). Toledo is among the better non-power five programs in the entire country. The Rockets have appeared the past five seasons and are coming off a 7-6 2018 season that saw them finish second in the MAC.

With Toledo being a respectable opponent, the spread set by Bovada isn’t astronomically high. The have opened as 12.5 point favorites. Basically two touchdowns without the extra points.

Last season, the Cats struggled in Week 1 against Central Michigan, also of the MAC, but still pulled away to win by 15. Thus, the line of 12.5 makes sense, as Toledo is a stronger opponent than CM,U and Kentucky has lost a lot of talent from a season ago.

While the Cats should be able to start off the new campaign with a victory, it won’t be easy, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if the score ends up being under the spread of 12.5.
