Brad Calipari has found his next home.
On Monday, Calipari announced he was transferring to Detroit Mercy. He was also considering Hampton.
Calipari, who redshirted this past season, will be a redshirt junior and immediately eligible to play next season. He played in 27 career games in his first two seasons as a Wildcat and has recorded 11 points and five rebounds.
The son of John Calipari played in five of UK’s six exhibition games in the 2018-19 preseason, totaling three points, three rebounds and two assists in 40 minutes.
Last season, Detroit Mercy finished with a record of 11-20 in the Horizon League. They are losing their second leading scorer Josh McFolley to graduation, which could pave the way for Calipari to have a significant role with them next season.
Blessed to be in this position. Just want to thank everybody who’s been there along the way. Especially everyone who said I couldn’t. All the unseen hours of work paying off. It doesn’t stop now tho! #TheNextChapter @DetroitMBB pic.twitter.com/NIwjrAGLdk
