Good morning, BBN.

It was a wild day on Sunday as the NBA free agent period opened up with a bang. No team made a bigger splash than the Brooklyn Nets as they acquired NBA All Stars Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.

More moves were made, as we will see in the Quickies, but the lack of moves by the New York Knicks made big headlines. Julius Randle is now in NYC but he’s not what Knicks fans were looking for. They had KD and Kyrie in mind. It had to been a painful experience watching them sign with their crosstown rivals.

Tweets of the Day

His beloved Knicks continue to be a joke.

Hahahaha

BOOM!

Quickies

Anthony Davis speaks about trade to Lakers | Lexington Herald Leader- Davis is more than happy with his move from NOLA to LA. He talks about how cool it was seeing that LeBron James wanted to make him his teammate.

Anthony Davis lands cover of NBA 2K20 | Cats Pause- The superstar is now under the brightest light in the NBA. Can he live up to expectations?

Four Wildcats in summer league action today | UK Athletics- The televised NBA Summer League games is a wonderful treat for basketball junkies. Tyler Herro, Jarred Vanderbilt, Keldon Johnson, and Wenyen Gabriel will all participate in games today.

Predicting SEC MVPs on defense | Saturdays Down South- Kash Daniel was the obvious pick for the UK defense.

He’s not the biggest, fastest, strongest or most athletic player for Kentucky, but there’s no one more valuable than Daniel, who is unequivocally the heart and soul of the defense. They desperately need his leadership and production this year, too, while having to replace All-American and top 10 pick Josh Allen at OLB.

I think Kash will rise to the occasion.

Golden State close on deal for DeAngelo Russell | ESPN- While the Warriors said goodbye to Kevin Durant, they were closing in on someone to replace him. Russell is coming off of a career year for the Nets and is one of the rising young stars in the NBA.

Free agency winners and losers | CBS- Obviously the biggest losers were the Knicks but some of the others on the list surprised me.

Jamal Murray gets massive extension from Denver | CBS- 5 years $170 millions sounds pretty good to me.

David Ortiz shooting was a hit gone wrong | Sporting News- It was mistaken identity than landed Big Papi in the hospital as a gangland hitman shot him instead of his intended target.
