In-state star Justin Powell had been gaining interest from the Kentucky Wildcats with his high level performances on Nike’s AAU circuit, but the North Oldham star won't be a Wildcat.
The four-star shooting guard announced today via Twitter that he will be on his way to play for Bruce Pearl and the Auburn Tigers.

Back in April, Powell talked about how Kentucky was starting to get in contact with him when he did an interview with Ben Roberts for kentucky.com.
“They’ve been coming at me a little bit,” Powell said. “Obviously, it’s a great program — big blue-blood program. And they’re obviously the best of the best. So it would be pretty cool”
Powell noted that he wanted to have a quick recruitment and make his final decision before his senior year, which would make it hard for Kentucky to land him.
If he waited until later in his senior season, Kentucky could’ve got more involved and maybe he would’ve ended up in Lexington.
Despite Kentucky showing interest, he wanted to get his recruitment over with and went with the first major school that gave him an offer and made him a priority for their class.
