What a weekend it was for one of Kentucky Basketball’s biggest targets.

BJ Boston tore it up against the competition, as he took home the MVP for this past weekend’s Nike EYBL session in Dallas, reported by d1Circuit. He averaged 27.6 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 5.2 assists over the five games while managing to pick up four wins.

He also managed to shoot over 60% from the floor and played really well in the backcourt with another Kentucky target in Sharife Cooper.

Boston is currently the 7th-ranked recruit in 2020 via Rivals. 247 Sports’ crystal ball has Kentucky at an 83% chance in their Crystal Ball predictions. Some other teams vying for BJ include Duke, Florida, Auburn, and Alabama.

BJ plays high school basketball in Georgia where he’s the top-ranked recruit in the state. His high school coach, Jay McMillan, believes that Boston is not only very talented, but that he wants it more than anyone else in the country.

“BJ is one of the most competitive kids I’ve ever coached,” McMillan said. “His work ethic and desire to be the best are some of his most defining traits. It doesn’t matter if it’s a practice, workout, or game - he brings a fire that makes everyone around him better.”

To be the best, you have to work like the best, and it sounds like BJ is ready to put the work in.

“(Boston’s) play throughout the EYBL season, and particularly the Dallas session, is not surprising at all,” McMillan said. “He’s been on a mission for a while now to prove any doubters wrong.”

It will be interesting to see how high Boston’s ceiling can get, and if Kentucky can stay on top during his recruitment, as it sounds like the Big Blue Nation would love a kid like BJ.
