The 6-5, 304-pound lineman hails from Phoenix City (AL) and plays for Central High School. He is ranked 711th nationally by 247 Sports Composite, which measures all of the recruiting services.
Among the schools who’ve offered Jones are the LSU Tigers, Arkansas Razorbacks, Florida State Seminoles, Tennessee Volunteers and Ole Miss Rebels among others.
Jones joins Torrance Davis, Jutahn McClain, D’Eryk Jackson, Justin Rogers, Andru Phillips, John Young and Beau Allen in UK’s 2020 recruiting class thus far.
Jones, Rogers and Young all play on the offensive line, as UK clearly has made that a big focus in this recruiting cycle. UK’s projected starting offensive line for next season has just one senior (Logan Stenberg) but does have three juniors in Landon Young, Drake Jackson and Luke Fortner.
That’s why getting several offensive linemen in this class is so important, as UK needs more bodies to develop and potentially take on starting roles in 2021 when four of the five projected starting lineman have graduated.
