The recruitment of Kerry Blackshear Jr. is almost over.

The graduate transfer from Virginia Tech just wrapped up his official visit to UK, which went very well by all accounts. However, Blackshear did not commit to the Cats during the visit like they had hoped would occur, but a decision is coming soon.

In an interview with the Herald-Leader, Rivals analyst Corey Evans said he expects a decision from Blackshear within the next week. He also thinks Blackshear will choose between UK and Tennessee.

Before making his way to Lexington, Blackshear took a visit to Knoxville, but the Vols haven’t been viewed as a major threat to this point. The belief was UK of Florida would ultimately land Blackshear, but it seems Tennessee has a very real chance at pulling this off.

Right after Blackshear’s visit to UK, there was a report that he was likely to visit Texas A&M. For now, however, it looks like that won’t happen.

Blackshear averaged 14.9 points and 7.5 rebounds last season as a junior for Virginia Tech. He was also named second-team All-ACC and NCAA East Region All-Tournament Team. He will be a preseason All-American candidate entering next season, regardless of which school he commits to.
