For the second straight offseason, Julius Randle is hitting NBA free agency.

According to Shams Charania, Randle is declining his player option, allowing him to become an unrestricted free agent.

Randle is coming off a breakout season with the Pelicans in which he averaged 21.4 points, 8.7 rebounds and 3.1 assists on 52.4% shooting from the field while netting a career-high 21.02 PER. This, while making a mere $8,641,000 in salary.

I’d imagine Randle is now in the running for a contract that will pay him $20+ million annually if he signs with the highest bidder. He’ll probably have to take less if he signs with a legitimate title contender, but regardless, he’ll be making a lot more than $9 million next season.
