Class of 2021 recruits are now allowed to have direct contact with college coaches.

The period for coaches to make contact began at midnight, and one of the first players UK reached out to was five-star forward Kendall Brown, according to Jacob Polacheck.

Brown, who plays for East Ridge High School in Minnesota, is ranked 14th overall in 2021 by ESPN in addition to being 16th at Rivals. 247 Sports ranks him 30th.

ESPN and 247 Sports have the 6-7, 190-pound Brown listed as a small forward, while Rivals has him pegged as a shooting guard. He currently holds offers from the Texas Longhorns, Iowa Hawkeyes and Iowa State Cyclones among others.

Another 2021 recruit UK has reached out to is five-star guard Devin Askew, according to Samad Hines.

A 6-3, 210-pound guard out of Mater Dei High School in California, Askew is ranked 15th nationally by ESPN, 18th by Rivals and 20th by 247 Sports. ESPN and Rivals list him as a point guard vs. 247 Sports tabbing him as a combo guard.

Askew already holds offers from the Texas Tech Red Raiders, Arizona Wildcats, Louisville Cardinals, Florida Gators and Oregon Ducks among others. Louisville actually has one prediction in his 247 Sports crystal ball.

Thus far, Terrence Clarke and Jonathan Kuminga are the only 2021 recruits with offers from UK. Brown and Askew certainly look like the level of recruits that could join that list someday.

Seeing as how Brown and Askew were among the first juniors that UK contacted, you have to think that John Calipari really likes what he’s seen of these talented recruits.
