It’s almost certain that as the Kentucky basketball team travels the state hosting these camps for children, some cool stories will come out about what happened behind the scenes.
We learned one of those stories yesterday, a heart-warming story about Kentucky PG Ashton Hagans.
TJ Beisner shared the story in a tweet thread.
Cal always talks about how great our players are as people and we get to see it every day in thousands of little moments that the public will never know about. Those are my favorite things about my job...and I’m going to embarrass Ashton a little and share a story from camp.

This tweet thread says a lot about the kind of guy Ashton Hagans is, going out of his way to make a child’s day. Hagans certainly could’ve went about his day, but probably made a lifetime memory for this child.
It’s just a testament to the kind of player that John Calipari has brought in to the program during his tenure here. Not only are these guys talented on the court, but they are great human beings off the court also.
Too often, we look at these athletes as just players to entertain the fans while on the court, but these guys are human beings off the court as well, and these type of heartwarming stories make me thankful for the type of players that make up the Kentucky Basketabll program.
